Corvallis - Week 47

This week the work has been on fire and it's awesome to see this area starting to progress and get better.

Monday 4/6:  Pretty average P-Day today.  Played some ball, emailed, and shopped.  Had dinner with the George family.  Pretty cool family.

Tuesday 4/7:  Went to Community Outreach today and just wasted a bunch of time waiting for the delivery truck that never showed up.  Then we went to south town and did a bunch of tracting there at a trailer park.  We talked to a lot of people.  This one lady talked to us about all the crazy church's out there haha.  Then we talked to a 70 year old lady who was hiding because she was smoking and she was suppose to be quitting.  It was like she was a little kid or something.  Tracting stories are the best.  We had dinner with the Clark family.  Brother Clark is from Monterey which was awesome.  Great finding day.

Wednesday 4/8:  So we did some Family History work today.  It's always fun but makes your head hurt at the same time.  It sucks when you find someone and their history is just a mess and you don't know how to help them.  It's the worst!  Today I also ran soccer practice for Sister Haslam.  I had so much fun doing that.  I can't wait to be a Coach.  I think it would be so much fun!  I had a great practice I think.  All I had was my memory of drills and what not.  I put them to work haha. I wish I had a whistle I could of used though.  I just like being in charge, it's what I do best.  We had dinner with the Gullerud family.

Thursday 4/9:  Today was a crazy day!  We went to lunch with the Zone Leaders today.  They took us out to Burger King which was awesome.  I love those guys!  We also did a ton of finding down in South Town.  We tracted more of the trailer park on Goodnight and I was surprised at the amount of people we actually talked to.  We met a Jehovah's Witness and we had a great discussion with her.  I know she felt the Spirit but she didn't want to believe that what we were saying was true.  She did take a pamphlet and a card which I was surprised because she's the first I've actually been able to give something to.  We also met B.  He's a guy from Alaska and is a huge outdoors guy.  He also served in Vietnam so he told us stories about him getting shot multiple times and also how he got hit by a grenade and flew pretty far.  He's a cool crazy old guy.  I definitely need to check Alaska out one day.  So tonight Hermano Jose Amaton came out with us to some appointments out in Philomath.  We talked to a good amount of people and Hermano Amaton connected instantly with them so it made teaching very easy and Hermano was just preaching it to them.  It was awesome.  Also R. moved so we were bummed and didn't know how we were going to find him but then we talked to good ole K. and he actually knew where he moved too.  It was crazy!  The Lord knows how to help us out when we need it.  We talked to E. tonight as well and she and her husband are great people and seem super interested.  Her kids use to attend church with a member when they were younger.  I think they have some great potential so I'm stoked to teach them.

Friday 4/10:  This morning we had ZTM which was a blast!  We learned that we need to remember our purpose more and make sure our investigators know our purpose and know why we are there.  So we had some left over food from dinner that we wanted to give to a homeless guy.  As we were driving we saw one on the sidewalk just chilling that we knew from the colds men shelter.  So we went over and gave the food to him.  This is why I love being on a mission because I can serve others 24/7.  He had the biggest smile on his face and it just brightened his day.  So crazy miracle that happened today.  We went to contact an old referral and as we knocked on the door a guy opened it up and was super happy to see us.  His name is J. and he invited us right in to talk with him.  I guess him and his family just recently moved in.  He has two kids H. and K. who were super awesome kids that actually like church and both have a bible.  J. was super interested and had a bunch of questions.  Long story short we taught him the Restoration and he said he would come to church.  GOLDEN FAMILY!!!  After the lesson we didn't know what just happened.  It was so unreal!  So as we arrived at home we noticed a Uhaul down the street so we walked over and the Uhaul was packed full.  So we asked if they needed help and they said of course.  So we just went ham and unloaded the whole thing and then they went a got another load so we unloaded that one as well.  They were soooooo grateful that we could help them.  Their names were Jason, Terra, Jessica, and Steve.  Super awesome people and hopefully we can teach them soon.  Day full of MIRACLES!

Saturday 4/11:  This morning we went over to the Rios family to do yard work for them and to see Hermana Rios.  Hermana looks completely fine but I guess at any moment she could pass away which is crazy.  She's so calm and still her happy self.  She was cracking jokes.  It's an amazing thing how the Gospel can bring us that much peace and comfort for when the time comes that we should pass on we know everything will be fine and that's it's not the end.  Hermana Rios told Hermano Rios, "I'll be waiting on the other side for you, so take your time."  She's always super funny.  I'm glad I had the opportunity to see her.  Today we went ham on finding.  We talked to a ton of people and got some return appointments which is awesome.  Tonight was a huge miracle.  We were finally able to see the Jimenez family.  We talked to them for like 2 hours or so.  They have been super crazy with work.  We had a great conversation with them.  I was so stoked to finally see them again.
Sunday 4/12:  So today as we were sitting in Sacrament the Jimenez family walked in so we were so excited that they were there.  We had dinner with the Haslam family today and they have pigs now so we had fun chasing them and picking them up haha.  Today was a pretty average day though.

So this week I studied the Standard of Truth.  It says...

“The Standard of Truth has been erected; no unhallowed hand can stop the work from progressing; persecutions may rage, mobs may combine, armies may assemble, calumny may defame, but the truth of God will go forth boldly, nobly, and independent, till it has penetrated every continent, visited every clime, swept every country, and sounded in every ear, till the purposes of God shall be accomplished, and the Great Jehovah shall say the work is done.” (To Fill the Earth)

It is a great reminder that God is hastening his work and nothing is going to stop it.

Love you all!

Love,
Elder Perrine
