So Monday was a good one. We had transfers so Elder Thacker is gone and now I have Elder Allen. It's cool being companions with him again since I know him already. We played some fun basketball. It's nice having a companion who is athletic as well. We are going to play a lot of soccer and basketball. Had some bomb dinner at the Clantons as well.
Tuesday was a good work day. We had a fun morning working at St. Vinnys. Elder Allen and I also went hard contacting people. We did a lot of driving around knocking on doors. Talked to a couple people and got return times. It's nice working with Elder Allen again. I'm learning a lot from him already. His Spanish is super good so mine is about to get a lot better.
Wednesday we had St. Vinnys in the morning. Elder Allen got to meet Nadine haha. That was pretty funny. Then the rest of the day we went ham finding and contacting people in our area book. There's a
lot of people but most of them aren't interested so we have to find those elect that want to learn. After dinner I didn't feel good, thought I was going to die so we went home and I passed out around 7
and didn't wake up till 3am, then I went back to bed. I was in a coma haha. (Poor guy. Working himself to his sick bed. He wouldn't have it any other way.) Elder Allen thought I was dead. But the next morning I felt completely fine. Sleep does good things.
Thursday we actually talked to a good amount of people. Not sure what their interest level is, but I guess we will find out. We had dinner with the Pool family. They are a white family. She plays the piano for the branch. We taught F. and D. again this night. They seem to be progressing a little and are still super interested. D. had a dream that Jesus Christ appeared to her and told her to follow him. Super crazy dream. I want one of these haha.
Friday we had a great district meeting where we talked about the blessings of the Spirit in our lives. It's a great subject to study in the scriptures. We talked to a lot of new people today. We were
lead to a lot of people who actually invited us to come back. It's really cool to talk to all the Hispanics and to talk to them about where they are from. Lots of people that are from different parts of
Mexico and also Guatemala. The Hispanic culture is way different from an American culture haha. Hispanics are funnier to talk to also and are all super kind. They have a lot of crazy stories to tell us too. It's a blessing for me to have this opportunity to learn Spanish and to teach the Hispanics here in the OEM. My inner Mexican is coming out haha. Spanish is so much better than English.
Saturday was a really fun day. This morning we had a missionary pre-turkey that investigators and members were suppose to show up at but no one did so all the missionary's and a really really cool member who is a firefighter played some flag football. It was pouring rain and super windy so it added intensity to the game. It was awesome! The rest of the day we knocked on doors and talked to people. Went to the thrift shop at St. Vinnys and did some service there as well. We had dinner with the Barajas family and I found out he is from Michoacan. What part of Michoacan is Great Grandma from? He was wondering. We also taught the Fuentes family. It's super cool being able to work with them again. We are working with them to get them to the Temple. Also taught L. and R. who are both less active but super cool guys who have strong testimonies. It's fun working with less actives because they know this church is true. It's just helping them continue to grow their faith and to get them to come back to church.
Sunday was a good day at church! F. and D. came and really enjoyed it. They seem to be really progressing and the Spirit is working within them. I think they will be ready for baptism soon.
Had a good dinner with the amazing Rojas family. They have family in Sacramento so they might be coming down this week. Also Nadine from st Vinnys has family in Roseville that she is going down to visit for thanksgiving. It's weird to think that Sacramento is so close haha.
It has been a very good week full of lots of tiny miracles. (Yah!!)
This week I studied a lot of the Blessings of the Holy Ghost in our lives. There so just so many but here are just a few scriptures that I really liked concerning the Holy Ghost...
45 Let thy bowels also be full of charity towards all men, and to the household of faith, and let virtue garnish thy thoughts unceasingly; then shall thy confidence wax strong in the presence of God; and the
doctrine of the priesthood shall distil upon thy soul as the dews from heaven.
46 The Holy Ghost shall be thy constant companion, and thy scepter an unchanging scepter of righteousness and truth; and thy dominion shall be an everlasting dominion, and without compulsory means it shall flow unto thee forever and ever. (D&C 121)
If we are worth the Holy Ghost will be our constant companion forever.
61 Therefore it is given to abide in you; the record of heaven; the Comforter; the peaceable things of immortal glory; the truth of all things; that which quickeneth all things, which maketh alive all
things; that which knoweth all things, and hath all power according to wisdom, mercy, truth, justice, and judgment. (Moses 6)
The Holy Ghost is the Comforter and can do all things.
19 And no unclean thing can enter into his kingdom; therefore nothing entereth into his rest save it be those who have washed their garments in my blood, because of their faith, and the repentance of all their sins, and their faithfulness unto the end.
20 Now this is the commandment: Repent, all ye ends of the earth, and come unto me and be baptized in my name, that ye may be sanctified by the reception of the Holy Ghost, that ye may stand spotless before me at the last day. (3 Nephi 27)
The most important is that the Holy Ghost sanctifies us. It is what cleanses us through baptism and throughout our lives. Through the Atonement, baptism, and receiving the gift of the Holy Ghost we can
return to live with our Heavenly Father with our families for all eternity.
Hope you guys had an amazing week!
Love you all!
